When Will They Stop Making PS3 Games?

Well, FIFA 14 is coming out on PS2 (which I didn't actually know until today). So if I had to make a guess, I'd say PS3 games would be in production all the way until they release the PS5.

Maybe 2015 but honestly i really hope the PS3 or Xbox 360 dont die out and i really cant see them dying out. Theyre really great systems and i think not everyone will be able to afford the new ones so hopefully some game producers will stay but who knows. I think GTA V and Beyond Two Souls were almost games that celebrated the end of those systems and i cant see any other major releases happening in the future.

To put this in retrospect, the last game to launch on the Playstation 2 is FIFA 14 which was released just a few days ago.

That's freaking amazing. I also saw this on Wikipedia:

It was released in late September 2013 for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo 3DS video game consoles and Microsoft Windows. It was also released as freeware for iOS and Android on 23 September 2013.

It seems like they are also releasing it on the PSP. I suppose with a sport like Football, you have to reach every audience because there's just that many. I wonder if they fix the screen aspect ratio for the PS2, though, or if it has the option to be played in widescreen.

You don't really need to worry about that, games like Fifa 14 are still being released in PS2 now, after what? 10/12 years?
If you want to play AAA games you will need to upgrade, but some more casual games will probably get a PS3 version too if the graphics don't change much.

They should keep producing games for the PS3 for at least a year.. I wouldn't be surprised if they make them for the next 3-4 years because of the huge user base that they have! It would be a huge profit loss if they didn't.

I think that there will be new titles for PS3 for awhile but I wouldn't count on it going on for too long. They are going to want everyone to go to the 4, so they will start tapering back pretty quickly, but who knows how long it will be before they stop making new titles altogether. They kept going with the PS2 for quite some time after the 3 came out, but the PS2 was an intensely popular system.

The development cycle histories usually circle around a year to a couple years past when the baton is handed off. Realize that Sony will say they are still releasing games for the PS 3 if only one game is being released. They won't say how many, so your PS 3 will be valuable for the experiences you have now, while the next gen will definitely be ready for the games being released today and tomorrow.

I agree with that but the problem is that as long as game developers are making games for one system, theyre losing profits for the other and considering one has a better specs than the other, its basically impossible to make PS4 games work on the PS3. Now with that being said, the PS3 can still have games come out and the PS4 users can play them but i think the general feeling most game developers will have is that they should just move on to bigger and better things on the newer system. Im not saying its the smartest thing to do but i do think its what theyll do

They won't have PS4 games on PS3, they'll most likely develop for PS3 and then port to PS4, releasing on both until the install base is bigger. Jumping ship to PS4 instantly is probably a very, very bad idea and we don't want to see our favorite companies die because of that, do we?
