Where to find a new PS4 Console Body

Okay, so I might as well introduce myself. The name's Spenser, and I work as an IT Technician/Sales Consultant for my local computer store.
Recently, a younger guy (late 20s, early 30s) came in and told me he had a house fire, and his brand new PS4 burned. He wasn't kidding. He placed it on the counter, and I thought it was toast.

It read discs, played games, and worked just like it was supposed to. I gave the guy $150 USD just for parts, and it turned out to work! There's only one problem: the body is burnt to a crisp. I have hunted and hunted for a body online, but I guess these consoles are still too new that people would wanna take them apart. So my question is: does anyone know where I can find a stock (or not stock) body???

Wow, I've never experienced anything like this. Maybe you should go to your nearest PS4 store and ask them?

I doubt they would allow me to buy just the body. Technically it's still under warranty (the sticker is still hanging on, undamaged). But I'm sure that a house fire voids a warranty. The previous owner is the one that had the house fire, and I'm sure it didn't have the protection plan.

I looked all over last night and couldn't find anyone selling it. A good place to search is modding communities, but it seems like nobody sells them yet. Please post if you do find somewhere to get them!

I certainly will! Are you looking for a modded body? I personally don't care if it's a mod body or not, I just want to keep the aerodynamics good so it won't burn up. You can literally cook an egg on this thing without the body. I accidentally rested my hand on it after playing Blackout 2 last night and I have a pretty good burn.

I was looking for anything. A lot of times modders know how to find stock items too. I think it's just to early right now. I would go ahead and point a fan right on that bad boy if you will be using it much. Keep in mind the metal shroud gets hot in all PS4s, the plastic cover just keeps us from knowing it.

No, it isn't under warranty anymore because you have technically opened it.

Doesnt matter if its not under warranty, explain the situation to Sony and ask them for a new body(or recommendation how you can acquire one).
I think they would help.

Actually, I hope that would work. But it doesn't say in the contract that there can be subjective causes.

You can call up Sony and tell them what happened and they will get you a new body for it

Unfortunately, they consider this an "act of God." Even if I had the PlayStation Protection Plan, they wouldn't fix it. They said even if I did and sent it in,they wouldn't even touch it. They would just turn right around and send it back to me. They actually SUGGESTED that I wait for a modder to come out with a mod body or a stock body to replace the melted one.
But I will make one suggestion to all PlayStation users, and you all may already know this. DO NOT use their chat system. Call them. The wait time is way less, and the chat system disconnects you if you are waiting on a response from the representative without typing something every 30 seconds.

I should have expected that. Mate, as long as you have opened the PS4, it is not longer under warranty. Sorry!

Yeah, I didn't really expect them to let me just buy a body. I'm not a Sony Tech, so I can't just order one. I'll just keep it nice and cool and play it occasionally. I haven't really found any games that I want to play yet. I am a die-hard Xbox fan. When Watch Dogs comes out, I'll have a hard time deciding whether to get it for XB One or PS4.

Yeah. My guess would be that the console is too new,

Third party developers have not had the chance to create replica's yet. May be you should contact sony, and ask them do they sell extra shells. Or you could just use it as is until there is a 3rd party shell available. You only paid $150 for a working PlayStation 4. You hit the jackpot, in my opinion.

I would suggest you use it as is for the time being. There is sure to be a a shell available soon. Just enjoy your saving until then.
