watching online video on consoles

I don't know if it's true, but I've heard that consoles have become the most popular way to watch online video. That's interesting to think that the console has surpassed the computer. I'm not a huge fan of watching video on the computer, but I thought that was just my preference. Maybe a lot of other people feel that way, too.

I don't use my Playstation 3 to watch online videos. I don't know if consoles can really replace computers in terms of surfing the web and playing videos... Why would people choose a console to do that? You can always connect the PC to the TV set and watch youtube videos on your large-screen TV...

I think most of that may be attributed to Netflix, which lets you stream movies and tv shows through your console. You get unlimited movies for something like $8 a month. The only thing is that all uses bandwidth and it adds up fast if you watch a lot of movies. For most internet plans, if you go over your download limit it gets very costly. As long as you watch your usage it's a good deal.

I'm not a fan of watching anything on the computer though, either. I've never seen the draw of YouTube.

Really? I guess the only thing I can see is Netflix. I wouldn't expect people to use Youtube on a console more than a computer or even a phone. I know that I have the capability to watch videos on a console but I never used it.

I guess it's because I've used computers so much for work. So, that's how I associate them. That's why it suits me to have a console or anything that looks and feels as different from a computer as possible!

I pretty much only watch videos on the computer. I guess it's because most of the videos I watch on sites like Youtube are ones I've found while browsing other types of sites.

I only watch online videos on my desktop or laptop. I use the gaming consoles for games only. I don't want to overuse the console and break it, so I don't use it for that. I know a lot of people that do though!

We use our Xbox 360 for gaming and Netflix, but we use the PS3 solely for gaming. We love Netflix because it's commercial-free tv and movies for less than $10/month. Now youtube has come to Xbox Live so we're getting into that simply because our tv screen is larger than our computer monitor. ;)

I like to watch Netflix on our Wii. I guess it's probably about the same as watching it through an Xbox 360 but the Wii controller is more like an actual remote than the Xbox 360 controller. I know it probably sounds kind of stupid, but I just can't get used to the idea of "channel surfing" with a game controller.

I think theres already a Youtube app for PS3 released last year and I think its just for North American users.

I am not sure if its already available worldwide.

I use my console for online videos all the time. I doubt it is the most popular way to watch videos, but it is doing well. I watch missed programs on 4OD and use my Xbox 360 for YouTube videos almost everyday. I think it is a really good idea to incorporate online videos into consoles, and I hope it turns out to be a successful concept.

Netlfix on consoles was a great idea! I'm watching it right now lol. The youtube app for PS3 was a good idea, but the way it turned out very badly, it's slow, and has a bad interface.

In Australia you can get pay/cable TV through an Xbox 360, I'd assume that some similar service is available in the United States, which would probably influence the statistics to some degree.
