Playstation Plus REQUIRED to play online and multiplayer?

I just learned this and have absolutely no idea Sony forces us to get PS+ to get online and multiplayer.

I was not aware of that, I got a year free of PS+ when I got my PS3 back in October and never paid any attention to the requirements of the PS4

I do hate paying for things

Yep sucks but ahhh MS has been doing it for a long time now. One main reason i never play online with xbox when i had one.

but the way sony give tells you is you pay per yr but you get a ton of free and discounted games to download.

And the way I look at it is by paying ,we will have a better online system in place. That and like xile said, the amount of free and discounted games more then supplements the cost.

Im not sure how you didnt know this,it was mentioned when the PS4 was announced.
And remember,you can access the store,send messages etc etc all without PS+,and even some free to play online games dont need PS+..but to be honest,if you play online,you will need PS+.
Its not a huge price to pay I think,considering its not just for online play,but you also get free games as PS+ member and discounts as well,and your PS+ membership also carries to PS3 so if you still use that you can download free games there as well. Vita too.
