Oh how I hate PS5 and .......

....the new business method of these companies whether Microsoft or Sony.

In old days you buy a game CD and put the darn thing in the console and click play and enjoy for hours and days and even weeks to come...

BUT nowadays, my PS5 screen is more crowded with million other information which mostly has nothing to do with the game CD I inserted with intensions to play. But rather advertisements and upcoming games and if I want to purchase this or that or online profiles etc etc...

I can't even find where the PLAY button to click in this chaotic screen.

The only thing SONY doesn't want from me is my DNA sample and the records of my family tree.

For God's sake, all I want to put a CoD disk in and hit play and enjoy a war game... Why they make it almost impossible to enjoy it. I don't want to spend hours in front of my TV to setup million little details and no I don't want to purchase certain weapons for $X.XX discounted price or season pass or whatever the else crappola they are trying to sell.

I bought your damn console and the game and let me play the damn thing!

It is only 1 month old and I am selling it on FB Marketplace... Let somebody else figure it out this mess!

Blame Microsoft for this push. Blame the publishers for this push, too.

I was okay with "expansions" from 2004-ish. Then, the DLC-lite map packs like Stimulus Package. MW3 had tons of them. But, at the same time, Microsoft launched Xbox Live, and the XBL Marketplace. Great ideas, but it sanitized players to use downloads during the Xbox 360 era. They encouraged it. Xbox One pushed this envelope even further. Especially when it originally was designed as a "Always Online" console. And that design still exists today. Players just don't realize it.

And it's only gonna get worse. You got subscription models, you got lootboxes, you got cloud gaming, you got digital storefronts, you got battle passes, you got digital currencies, you got metaverse. I wrote an article about this subject.

This is more or less of a PlayStation 4 idea than it is Xbox consoles idea. Sony wanted to encourage players to buy more of their stuff. Publishers even pay around $25,000 just for a spotlight in the PS4 menu. Publisher A says I want THAT spot. Publisher B says I want THAT spot.

It doesn't help matters when the menu is a little complicated, especially the backwards compatible games. There's two menus for some of them; Want to play the PlayStation 4 version? Want to play the PlayStation 5 version? I get it, they're trying to offer options, but Microsoft has the right idea. Each Xbox Series game can be played as a Xbox One game. There was a patent where they could "forward compatible" the games.

This is actually an Activision problem rather than a Sony problem. Activision wants Call of Duty games to be a DRM in itself. Like you don't own the "license" to the game. Modern Warfare II? Rumor has it that the actual disc is a paperweight. So, when you install it, you're extracting from the disc of the "license" and it talks to the Activision servers and tells them to extract the full game.

You are just jumping into a marketplace that you don't understand, this is the standard for gaming today. Even if you go to Microsoft's Xbox consoles, it's the same shit. They're the one who started this trend. Nintendo is the odd one out in all of this. The problem is, and I really hate this about Nintendo - they are literally 1 generation behind everyone else when it comes to specs. Nintendo Switch uses a chip from 2015. Tegra X1 is about 2 years old by the time Nintendo Switch was released. Less power, less visual fidelity, etc. Developers complained to Nintendo about this issue, and was largely ignored.

You are better off just keeping PlayStation 5, and just learning.

I agree completely and oh trust me I just sold my X Box after owning it for 3 months. The only reason I bought that one was for to play MS Flight Simulator.. Game sucked with tons of bugs. Nothing like I used to do in old days on my PC before switching to Mac 15 years ago...

I was kind of happy with my PS4 and first person shooter games like Sniper Elite, Far Cry, CoD (older versions) etc... Then this new era shit storm started I guess. I just wanted to experience a little but OH GOD, this is not for me anymore...

I'd like to go back to simpler times where I played against the machine and enjoyed my off time... Who came with this idea that I need to play with a 16 yr old from other side of the world...
I don't want people talking to me from my controller or try to figure it out who is who on a online game where all characters move like grasshoppers on cocaine!

Anyways, once this crappola sells and gets out of my house, never again!
I rather ride my motorcycle, I mean the real one that goes on the roads ;)

PC gaming also has all this "crap," too.

Those "bugs" you experienced is because Microsoft doesn't care about game quality. They said it outright in interviews. So, they bought Bethesda, makers of Fallout... Not a single difference there. Right out of the gate, Redfall was released. Buggy mess. Under Microsoft.

You'd THINK a multi-billion dollar company would be able to extend development and squash these bugs...? Nope. Didn't happen.

God i wish Microsoft stayed out of gaming. The entry of Microsoft hurt gaming in general. And its only gonna get worse.

At least the SSD keeps downloading at a minimum with how fast it communicates back and forth.

I'm 41 and I agree.
