Need info about SSHD's for PS4

I would like to get a faster and larger HDD for my PS4, however there are a few things that I would like to know first..

1. What exactly are the problems a PS4 will have with a drive larger than 2TB in size?

2. Will an SSHD drive have a significantly shorter lifespan than a 7200RPM standard HDD?

3. If you were to recommend either a 2TB 7200RPM HDD or a 2TB SSHD or somethig else which would it be?

Let me try to answer your questions one by one:

1. What exactly are the problems a PS4 will have with a drive larger than 2TB in size?

Before firmware update version 3.5, there was a problem with reset mode if you upgraded to larger than 2TB.

This explains it:

The only issue will occur with a 4TB capacity upgrade is that you cannot use that drive with Reset Mode. If you use Rest Mode with a 4TB drive, your PlayStation-4 will not wake properly; it will wake in Safe Mode and go through a disk check routine every time with sector errors. Just shut down your PS4 completely and problem solved.

Further more, on the same page you'll find an update for this case:

It seems Sony has quietly introduced support for larger drives than 2TB in the latest 3.50 firmware update [Released on the 6th of April 2016].
Installing the new firmware allows your PS4 to detect up to 4TB hard drives properly without any issue. So just make sure to download and install it before upgrading.

As for your second question:

An SSHD is a combination of a regular hard drive and an SSD. SSD has longer lifespan than HDD. So theoretically, an SSHD is supposed to last even longer than a regular hard drive that's totally dependent on its platters for data handling.

Thank you for your detailed reply, and the article you sent a link to was very interesting to read, however I still see benefits in both SSHDs and traditional HDDs, I will definitely have to think long and hard about that one as faster loading times, as small as they are, would make a difference to me given the games I play which have substantial loading times in comparison to most, even 10-15 seconds is good. but on the other hand spending less is good too. Also I didn't know that v3.50 of the PS4 firmware fixed that problem with larger HDDs, that's great to know! and has definitely made my mind up about the storage size (although I never use rest mode intentionally sometimes I accidentally go to rest mode instead of power off) so thanks again, you have certainly got me thinking.
