Lack of games on PS Vita?

Personally, I do not have a PS Vita, because it lacks a lot of games. There is not enough.:(
Some of my friends have sold their PS Vita. Even the 3DS is a better investment. I wonder if I'm the only one who thinks so?

The PS4 should boost sales of the PS Vita because it allows a greater interaction with the console. PS Vita will be the lever luxury PS4.
Then there's Final Fantasy X/X2 HD is coming to boost sales. I would have liked Final Fantasy Type-zero on PSN at least.

Do you want a PS Vita?

I agree that as of now, there aren't too many games available on the Vita although that does look like it will change soon. I don't have a Vita and it might be a while before I ever get one. The one reason I will though is because of the cross gameplay feature it has with the PS4.

I saw this thread and I cringed a little. I dunno, but I think the Vita definitely doesn't lack games. I guess if by games you mean blockbusters like Assassin's Creed, GTA or CoD, then that's true (despite there being an AC and CoD on the Vita... but the CoD has the excuse of being crap so we can forget it exists).

If you like indie games, then the Vita has a lot going on for it. If you also like Japanese games, there's a lot more for you! And hell, if you love fighters and you want some fighters on the go then the Vita is your only option.

These are the reasons why I find the Vita's library to be actually pretty good right now. Plus, quality over quantity. The DS systems get a lot of games but a lot of them are crap, the Vita gets less but the few it gets are pretty good most of the time.

Note: not attacking the DS systems or saying they have bad libraries, but there's a lot of trash out there for the DS. Lots of shovelware games which wouldn't even be good as $1 mobile games.

Short answer: Yes, there is a lack of quality exclusive games.

Longer Answer:The support for the Vita from 3rd party is actually worse than the Wii U. Given how the best sellers on the Vita are watered-down ports, most people don't see the appeal in spending $250 on a portable to play games they can play on their Playstation 3 or mobile phone better.

@The Unlosing Ranger
Given how the 3DS is outselling the Vita 8 to 1 currently, a lot of people seem to prefer the first party titles and larger library of exclusives the 3DS has to offer (not to mention its backwards compatibility).

Vita was and is a failed scheme from Sony. They need to stick to what they are good at, consoles, cameras and phones.

There is a serious lack of killer apps. The 3DS has relatively little games , but there is a small handful that really sells the system, things like Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter are madly popular. The Vita not only doesn't have all that many games, there is also a serious lack of good games. It partly seems like they have totally given up on it and they prefer to give more attention to the PS4.

It's because the Vita was a big flop. It's really sad to be honest because it has a big potential, but it's a fact that Vita and the GO are both Sony's biggest failures. The PSP actually sold more in its first month than the Vita in it's first year. That's why a lot of developers don't wanna risk their money to make a game for vita.

It's far from a big flop, don't kid yourself. There's a lot of games, specially in Japan. There's been a lot of games announced too. It's not a flop yet and it's certainly nothing like the PSP Go.

What this guy said.
When i hear people say how hard the PSVita crashed, they certainly didn't used it like it was suppose to. But that is like a lot of things in life, if you just get something without knowing what to use it for before, you are bound to be disappointed. But hey, each opinion to each one.

When will Sony realize that the selling point of the PS Vita is not its connectivity with the PS 4 but the available games. The games available on the Vita are also available on the PS 3 thus it eliminates its uniqueness. What makes the 3DS great is it has a lot of unique games and not just spin offs of Wii U games.

Totally its the same with the WII U the both consoles are lacking in games and are not having many games released on both so its probably because developers know they won't make much money on them.

I've seen a lot of Vitas going up for sale on our local online market as well, and it's a huge reason as to why I'm a little hesitant to purchase one for my own. Also, I do agree that it's lacking in games, specially since I've been so spoiled by the previous PSP's massive library. Hopefully they make more soon, and hopefully it has some familiar titles as well.

In terms of good games, Vita has about the same amount of good games, despite being out for shorter time. It seems to lack killer games, like 3DS' Mario, Zelda, etc.

I do't know. I really don't know. The publishers and devs are not showing much interest in this handheld platform at this moment. I think there are way too many handheld consoles in the market right now.

No I agree with you wholeheartedly. The 3DS's library is more appealing to me. It is interesting because people complained about the 3DS's library at the beginning. The 3DS recovered from this, but the Vita hasn't been as lucky.

Yeah I sold my vita a while back because there wasn't much games for it and I feel as if Sony isn't supporting it that much anymore.

The Vita has a great library, man. I think the real issue with the Vita is that most of its games are digital (like the remakes of the Atelier games and the PSN indies), but who's gonna be looking at the digital stuff before buying one? Most people seem to just check at retail and retail library isn't as good as the digital for Vita.

Saying the 3DS is more appealing to you is alright, it's your preference, but the Vita isn't lacking. The Nintendo handhelds will always dominate because of how many parents buy them for their children due to brand recognition and such. I do think Sony could learn from Nintendo and do what Nintendo did when the 3DS wasn't doing too well: start developing and announcing a lot of first-party titles. The Vita already has a fair share, and they're good, but I think Sony needs something with wider appeal such as perhaps Ape Escape?

From what I understand, you are 100% right that one of the main problems is that the PS Vita doesn't have a great retail library. I'd say the biggest problem Sony has is that it doesn't have a game that people buy the system for, like Pokemon or Animal Crossing. I honestly don't know if Sony even has a franchise that a dedicated enough fan base that would go out and buy a PS Vita just for one game.

Definitely a great point. Nintendo lives off of its first party games. Sony, not so much. They have Uncharted, but that is ultimately a console game. They need to find that killer app that makes you have to have the Vita. They need an experience that you can't get anywhere except on Vita.
