Just ordered a PS5 God of War Edition

Just got a new PS5, I haven't bought a console in years. So this will be a learning curve, but I was wondering is the PS5 top tier subscription worth it or should I just get the bare minimum sub? Or should I not get it at all? Can I still game online with out a subscription?

I plan on playing god of war and probably war zone to start off

I have the basic tier, it's fine. Just go with the $60 Essential Plan.

Right now, the Extra and Premium Plans are not fully built, yet. The Premium tier is for classic PlayStation games, and it's not even close to half-way done with being built. The whole point of Premium is to compete with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Extra is basically Game Pass + Xbox Live. Ultimate brings Game Pass, Xbox Live, Games with Gold, and the BC games into one package.

Essential Plan is practically what we used to have in the PS4/PS3 era.

God of War is a one player game anyway so no need for a subscription for that.
I think War Zone offers free online play, so thats fine without a subscription as well.

Yeah, but what happens if he buys a new game that requires PS Plus? He sounds like me, the casual who is a bit open minded.

But yes, Warzone 2 has the lowest barrier to entry.
