Call of Duty 2014: First Image Revealed

The thing that really annoys me about CoD is how linear the maps are and how static the environment is. It's always a matter of take this objective, defend it, then fight to extraction (with some slight mission variations of course). It's the drawback of being heavily scripted, but geez at least BO2 had some alternate endings. Ghosts didn't even try that. I think the hover bikes will be used like the snowmobiles in MW2, where you barely use it. It also breaks the immersion a bit when you can just hide behind a crate from a tank. They should add a bit more destructability outside of barrels and posts. I have always liked CoD's game modes though. They have some creative modes.

My comment was aimed at the multiplayer.
The single player campaigns have never been that great,I play them through though, but really CoD games are mainly about the MP,with a SP campaign added.
At least that's how they feel to me.

Yeah, but my comment applies to MP maps as well. The maps are still very static outside a few destructable barrels. The chokepoints feel really forced sometimes or even worse, have way too many angles to get shot from. The biggest problem in Ghosts is the map design though. Waaayy too big and leads to campfests, which just kills the whole point of the game. This is 6v6, not freakin Battlefield.

I always care about SP more than MP, even though these days all companies focus more on the MP features.
I agree that after MW CoD started to focus on MP rather than SP which is why it alienated me :p

I think they need to put the franchise in a new setting. Instead of modern or in the near future, I'd rather see a full blown Sci-Fi futuristic game, set wayyyy into the future.

Yeah! HA! And then they would slap in a title like "Call of Duty: Galaxy Warfare" or something like that, then there's going to be a mode where you can build your own space ship and all that cool stuff. LOL

Going by that analogy that can be said for practically all shooters then.

Its the way you go about, how its implemented, the set ups,the maps, the weapons, the vehicles (if any, dont forget,CoD WaW had tanks on certain maps)

You really cant be that simplistic about it I think otherwise you can say all BF games are the same, all GTA games are the same, all MK games are the same etc etc

People only complain about the CoD games being the same cause they get released every year, and really thats good, cause who wants to play the exact same game for years and years? So why not have one every year.
Activision may publish a new CoD game every year, but its always been a 2 year dev cycle til now. Now with Sledgehammer making the next one,CoD games are a 3 year dev cycle.

You're right on man, I guess what I would like to see is a more, I don't know really, like a more solid SP campaign. I hope Sledgehammer brings a lot to the franchise.

Activision actually trademarked Call of Duty: Space Warfare as one of its potential names for games in the franchise. Who knows, maybe they'll end up using it? I wish we had a full Vietnam CoD shooter though. Or maybe a Korean war game. I'm just getting sick of all these modern war games. A lot of them are the same. It's a lot like the WWII FPS craze from a couple of years ago.

I'm not really into the story lines these games have and always try to skip through what i can because i just wanna shoot stuff lol so if it's a boring story it won't affect my time playing it.

i have only had the chance to play cod ghosts tho on ps4 so i can't compare to the previous games, i enjoyed playing the campaign, but reading the comments online you would not really guess that it is such a loved game, i read more bad comments about the game than i do good ones, but regardless i will be buying the new cod (and most likely any of the shooting games released) :)

Yeah,that would be great,perhaps a diff era.
I read a rumour before news of Advanced Warfare was released that the new one was set in alternate version of WWI. Now that would have been interesting too.

Ha yeah, the whole CoD Patriots hoax. Wasn't WW1 a lot of trench fighting though? So more camping in a CoD game? Hmm. I hope they don't go too overboard with the kill streaks in this game. I preferred the simplistic ones from MW1, then MW2 had to come screw it up and make the game unbalanced as hell (which was still fun). But they have to make it futuristic at the same time. I'm guessing one of the perks will be the drone copter things that they throw out in the trailer.
