Assassin's Creed movie

There was that web series a while back to boost sales for Assassin's Creed and add to the lore of it, which was very good and pretty artistically done. I enjoyed it. But what I would really like to see is a movie that has an entire Assassin's Creed story line, including present day events. Perhaps when Ubisoft finally decide that they're done making these games they can focus on a movie which ties the story off and gives fans closure as to what happens to our assassins and Templars. What do you guys think about an Assassin's Creed movie?

I can see an Assassin's Creed movie. Not a successful one (video games movies very rarely come off as successful, fun to watch on the first go around, but rarely success to warrant a sequel).

All of that said, I'd watch an AC film, but I would love an AC television series since that way the stories could actually be given time and each season could be a different game. I see the movie having more of a chance of being made although I could see SyFy jumping on an AC television series with the blind of sci-fi/flashback elements.

...it would be filmed in New Zealand of course.

An AC television series would make a ton of sense. The format you suggested where each season was a different period in the game would fit perfectly. I doubt the series would get stale quickly as there would be fresh faces for the ancestor flashbacks every season.

As far as a movie, I could see that. It would be so condensed to a 2 hour format that it would seem rushed at parts and would need several films on the series.

I'd love to see it on the big screens. I think it has a better chance of getting picked up on TV by HBO or some similar service, but I'd personally prefer it if it were just a movie. Done this way, not only would the production quality be a lot higher, but it will be more grand as well, which I feel would benefit a first A.C. movie. I'm not sure how well that would work out for the sequels, though, but I'm sure they will be fine.

And it would be great, like all those other movie adaptations of Bloodrayne, Hitman, Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider, Max Payne, Street Fighter, Super Mario, Doom, Resident Evil, Far Cry, Silent Hill, Mortal Kombat... oh wait, they were all horrible and managed to ruin the entire thing that each game stand for.

I wouldn't mind something like the Brotherhood mini-series, as long as they don't half ass the movie and hire some competent actors and writers for the job. The AC universe is practically begging to be made into a more elaborate work of art, be it just a novel or an entire movie/web series. Hell, even if they charge money for it I'd be more than willing to see it.

This. While some of those movies were fun are first watch mos tend to watch them through gamer goggles where they look a lot better than they actually are. The MK animated and television series were better than the live action films as were SF II V and the USA Network series...but the Animated Movie from 1994 trumps all of that for Street Fighter (best thing was Raul Julia as M. Bison in the live action film).

While movies have gotten better technologically since the 1980s and 1990s, you're still going to have a hard time getting some competent to do the job. The director would say "I'm a fan of the series" or "I'm familiar with the material" and deliver a stinker. A movie is more like "You have one shot to make it work or we won't be dunking cash into do overs or sequels" whereas a TV series would allow more wiggle room to improve over a season or even next season if a network has hopes for it picking up/need some programming to fill slots.

A tv show would probably work better for a concept like Assassin's Creed since they have a better track record at making the adaptations good at least of recent years. There are still to many problems with movie adaptations for me to trust it. And at least with TV there is no pressure to cast a big Hollywood star that could potentially ruin the series.

Maybe i am forgetting something important, but does a good adaptation even exist? I don't mean just game>movie, but book>movie, book>game, product>game (Okay, that old Chex game made in the Doom engine was pretty good, but seeing how it was using another game's engine, it doesn't count)?

...I thought Cool Spot was a good product to game adaptation (but not Pepsi Man, Global Gladiators, or Chester Cheetah). I'm sure there was one book to movie ones that have worked. The Bible's adaptations to games have all been bad in a humorous way.

I keep forgetting about the Hitman movie. I'm guessing that I've been blocking it out, but you guys bring it up lol

I could get behind an Assassin's Creed film. It would most likely bomb, but at least we'd get AC collector's edition glasses from Burger King and Angry Birds: Assassin's Creed, right?

If it's to tv show generally the adaptations work. There have been a few to movie adaptations but it usually only works with comics and books. I'm not sure why we haven't gotten a good video game adaptation yet. It really does depend on whose writing it, what the game is, and the actors. I think Assassin's Creed has a good shot at it but it's been said before that it would be better if it was a TV show.

Comic book adaptations work because there's a little mainstream familiarity with comics from generation to generation, plus the hype. With AC it would be like...a generation, generation and a half familiar with the series even though it sales and has hype.

Who knows, Assassin's Creed might actually do and deliver a good movie on the first outing. I would stop it there as going for a sequel would be studios getting greedy and you'll end up with Double Dragon or Super Mario Bros (or any of those BlackSolaris mentioned).

A movie would depend on a lot of factors and the thing is that with video games movies they tend to get shunted off to second rate directors. I'm not sure why but they tend not to get the breaks that comic book movies do. It's like the studios expect them to fail so for the most part they don't really put much effort into them. I would hope for better with AC but I'm not getting my hopes up.

For the love of all that is holy, please, some production, get this right! Get the uncharted movie and metal gear movie right too! don't do what you did with resident evil and tomb raider, please!

I really liked the Tomb Raider movies. Not in a "wow, this movie deserves an Oscar" way, but in a turn off my brain and watch a silly action movie way.

I looked up rumors online, and Michael Fassbender might be in the movie? He is an amazing actor, I'll probably see it if he's in it.

The Tomb Raider movies were silly but fun. I enjoyed the first one a lot more than the second one. Also Michael Fassbender? If he's in it as the Assassin I maybe convinced to give this movie more of a shot. It would be interesting depending on if he's playing on of the 4 that we have now or an all new character. Actually it might be easier if he played a new Assassin since he is a bit older than them when they first start out.
