Assassin's Creed Syndicate announced!

Here's the latest reveal for the new Assassin's Creed game "Assassin's Creed Syndicate"

And here's gameplay footage to go with it:

London. 1868. The Industrial Revolution. An age of invention and prosperity, built on the backs of working class slaves. As gangster assassin Jacob Frye, you will recruit your gang to fight for justice on behalf of the oppressed working class. Lead the underworld to take back London in a visceral adventure filled with action, intrigue and brutal combat.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on October 23, 2015.

Key Features:

- Put up your dukes and play as the first gangster assassin at the birth of the modern age, Jacob Frye. Unleash your arsenal of weapons, including the kukri knife, brass knuckles, and sword cane in brutal combat and utilize the brand new rope launcher to scale buildings in seconds or take your enemies by surprise.

- From Buckingham Palace to Big Ben, fight and triumph across the fast-paced open world of Industrial London using high speed trains and carriages.

- Establish Great Britain’s fiercest gang, the only force that can challenge the elite and defeat rival gangs to bring freedom to the oppressed masses

- Also play as Jacob’s twin sister Evie, a relentless Assassin who has perfected the silent, swift, invisible strike.

Personal note: I've seen comments from various other sites from people saying how this looks great and new. I'm wondering if we saw the same footage? To me, this seems just another Unity DLC. Sure, the location seems ok - but it's exactly the same as all the others. There's nothing new. And is it just me or is the hand-to-hand combat and various other new "features" seem to be taken straight out of the Batman Akrham games? Anyways.. over to you guys.

What d'ya think?

I've never been one for assassins creed games. Although i have heard that the earlier ones are better, i use the Ps4 and I'm not using Playstation Now. But from what i heard the latest game was broken and rushed. I'll atleast look at some reviews before i even consider buying.

AC has become a machine to make money. I've played every episode, from Aldair to Arno. Ezio's saga (AC2) was great, Edward's (AC BF) was great, I still play it often. AC Unity is a complete delusion and this one, well... will be worse than Unity imo. In addition, the micro credit system introduced with AC Unity is really annoying and makes me feel a cow to be milked. I think that, if they do not invent something really original, AC is dead and will be left on the shelf by many people.

I still think they are fantastic games and love the worlds they have created. They changed to much in Unity and took away features without replacing them with new ones i.e. ship battles and being able to select what weapon you want to fight with (fists, blades, sword). I love the look of Unity, but moving around can be a real pain in the butt. Even jumping back while hanging from a wall is frustrating, these things worked well in previous versions. I completely agree with the credits/money/helix. No clue why they need 3 difference currencies in the game, I am utterly confused by it. Sometimes simpler is better. I am looking forward to this new AC. Hoping they bring back the option to chose my weapon to fight with. The grapple looks really cool. I love the worlds they recreate and the detail they have. Look forward to running around London and hope they add something new. Would love more story from the original, but it seems that is all pretty much being ignored now. It would be great to see some more exotic places, like Egypt, Japan or India.

Some minutes of combat gameplay:

Really nothing new, imo.

Looks pretty good, hopefully they fixed the glitches from Unity and moving is more fluid. Really like that grappling hook. Hopefully they go back and let us choose the weapon we want to fight like Black Flag and all the previous AC games. Looking forward to roaming around old London. I think this is the one game I am looking forward to this year. Batman Arkham Knight was ok, but pretty much the exact same game as previous, which is not a bad thing, just way to short.

I admit it is too early to give a judgement, however I think that this one and Unity have lost the original "soul" of the AC serie.
I think I will not buy it but, of course, never say never. :grin

PS: I agree with you about Batman AK

Oh I will be buying this game on release day, like I did for all the others. I love open world games and this series is one of the best. They definitely lost the original story with the aliens and all that, now seems little to no mention of any of that, just an explanation for the those magical items they are after now. Would really like some exotic locations, or to head back to Jerusalem and surrounding area. I remember how amazing the first Assassins Creed looked when I got it and that game looks dated now in comparison.

Exotic locations are in Black Flag, the best of the serie imo. I still play those fantastic battleships :grin
Do you still play it too?

I've yet to actually play that one. It's the only AC game I've yet to play (minus Chronicles). But by far my favourite is Brotherhood.

I have played threw the story mode 3 times and done just about everything you can do in there, just could not beat the top left hand corner ship. I have not played it in a while, been playing GTA V online and finishing Arkham Knight for the second time, done just about everything there as well, great game, waaaaay to short.

Black Flag is definitely more exotic then the rest of the series, but they could do so much more. Ancient Egypt, Japan, China or India could all be amazing. My favourite is black flag as well, they added so much to the series with that game, the rest feel lacking without the ships.

Anyone else picking up Syndicate today? I will be heading to my local best buy after work to grab a copy. I recently started playing Unity again, it is almost comical with the glitches in that game and frustrating trying to maneuver at times. Hopefully this is all sorted for Syndicate.

I'm very very tempted to get it. I tried many times to play Black flag but hated it. Avoided Unity, but from the gamespot review saying how much fun, great story and gameplay, it might be time to have another go at an Assasins creed game.

If you did not like Black Flag, not sure if you will like the newest releases. With Unity they took so much away without replacing it with new fun things. I still don't see them doing that with Syndicate. I still enjoy the games, but Black Flag was the best of the bunch in my opinion. Lots to explore, really funs hip battles, the usual Assassins creed stuff with climbing and exploring cities.

^^^ fair enough. The reasons i didn't like Black Flag though was

1 - I like a good story but the main character in Black Flag was a bit of an Arse! LOL
2- The swordplay / stealth was so irratic! I kept mucking up stealth sections cos i wanted to be in cover but the controls were rubbish.

Picked up the game on Friday, played it for a few hours over the weekend and have to say I love it. The new grappling hook adds a new element and is very fun to use. A bit like Batman, but not as fluid or as easy to snag on to something.

London looks great, though nothing really wow, from what I have seen it is just one big city, not a lot of diversity, but still only about 10% into the game and have not explored everywhere yet. The Thames river running through London is fantastic, love the heavy traffic of boats and long boats, jumping from ship to ship to cross.

Not sure about having two characters, I seem to mainly just use the one guy and not the sister unless I have to for a mission. Nice to have some options of course, not sure if the story changes at all when playing as one of the two siblings.

Running around seems more fluid then Unity, still not perfect but a noticeable improvement. Took a bit to get used to the new controls. Similar to Unity, but changed slightly in a few ways, like sneaking around for example you hit "X" and that is it, in Unity you had to hold down a button, still catch myself doing that.

All in all I am loving this game the more I get into it.

I was very doubtful about Syndicate because I've played Unity. I bought it anyway with many doubts as well... lol. But now, I read your comments and I am full of hopeness. Once I finish MGSV I will start this one :grin
