Assassin's Creed Unity Runs at 900p/30fps on PS4 & Xbone (see reason why)

At first I thought well neither machine can handle 1080P and 60fps but first check this quote:

Gamespot said:
The new current-gen and PC-only Assassin's Creed game, Assassin's Creed Unity, will run at a resolution of 900p and a frame rate of 30 frames per second on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Now read this one,and Ive highlighted the important bit:

Gamespot said:
Speaking with VideoGamer, senior producer Vincent Pontbriand revealed the figures, which come in below the 1080p/60fps figures that Ubisoft was reportedly targeting for both platforms. And while there is a technical reason for not being able to reach those numbers, Ubisoft decided to make the two console versions identical in the interest of parity. "We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff," Pontbriand explained.

Now this annoys me.
Its basically dumbing down probably the PS4 version to match the max output of the Xbone when most likely it could run on higher settings on PS4.
Its nothing new,its been done PS3 and 360 too but its holding the game back if you know what I mean.

Thats the problem with cross platform games. We are simply not getting the best possible looking game that we could be getting cause of the differences in power between the two consoles.
So instead of making the game look the best it can the devs are making it look the best it can according to the max power of the lesser console.

I'm well pissed of at this news. In fact I'm off to the Ubisoft forums right now to discuss this because they have Devs who frequent the forums and they'll probably reply.

Notice how they're partnered with Xbox, do you think Xbox would be as low as to pay Ubisoft to lock both consoles so it doesn't look like Xbox One isn't as powerful ?

MY post on the Ubisoft forums http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.ph...eveloper-s?p=10259678&viewfull=1#post10259678

So because of the lack of power the Xbox One has compared to the Ps4, PS4 users have to adapt? Rightio.

Well that's what it sounds like. I mean Watch Dogs did 30 FPS and 1080p so why can't the PS4 do the same on AC Unity.

He basically shot him in the foot when they said 'to stop debates and stuff'

New update from Polygon

Update: Ubisoft says it did not scale down the game's graphics to accommodate one particular system, saying Pontbriand's comments were "misinterpreted." The company's full comment is below.

"We understand how Senior Producer Vincent Pontbriand's quotes have been misinterpreted. To set the record straight, we did not lower the specs for Assassin's Creed Unity to account for any one system over the other.

"Assassin's Creed Unity has been engineered from the ground up for next-generation consoles. Over the past 4 years, we have created Assassin's Creed Unity to attain the tremendous level of quality we have now achieved on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. It's a process of building up toward our goals, not scaling down, and we're proud to say that we have reached those goals on all SKUs.

"At no point did we decide to reduce the ambitions of any SKU. All benefited from the full dedication of all of our available optimization resources to help them reach the level of quality we have today with the core Assassin's Creed Unity experience."

Well this blows. I just pre-ordered it tonight (digital) so I can't cancel the order. If I could, I would, and I'd write Unity and tell them why. Allowing Microsoft to ONCE AGAIN be the reason developers have to DUMB DOWN their applications is utter BS. I've spent 15+ years dealing with Microsoft's bullcrap (web applications programmer) because of Internet Explorer... now once again they're doing this?? GRRR.
